Student Activities & Events

Some of the programs available to Escondido students:

Year -Round:

  • Noon Sports:
    Variety of organized sports activities available to kids for grades K-5.
  • Special Assemblies:
    4 during the year covering various topics such as recycling, bullying, opera, etc.
  • Spectra Art:
    Your kids will amaze you with what they bring home!
    Funds from Partners in Education (PiE) provide this program taught by a trained specialist. It provides staff development for teachers until their third year of teaching and hands-on art experiences for elementary children in their classrooms. The PTA funds Spectra Art for the remaining classrooms.

Seasonal:

Fall

  • Ice Cream Social:
    Eat ice cream and get reacquainted with your class friends, meet new families.
  • Back to School Night:
    Get the lowdown on your school year and meet your teacher.
  • Walk/Bike/Carpool to School Day:
    Do your part for global warming!
  • Bike Safety Program: 3rd grade.
    The The Third Grade Bike Safety Program is a bicycle education program offered each fall to PAUSD third graders. This is a fun 3-part program with an on-bike rodeo to teach key skills to keep kids safe on the road. The last lesson is an on-bike practice (“Bike Rodeo”) with bicycle professionals, PA Fire Department, and PA Police Department.
  • Halloween Parade:
    annual extravaganza – breakfast available, parents and cameras encouraged!
  • MOSS 5th Grade Science Camp:
    Mount Herman Outdoor Science School, Scotts Valley, CA – 4 days of science discovery in the Redwoods.
  • Scholastic Bookfair

Winter

  • Science Fair:
    Available to all grades. Each student chooses a question they would like to explore and makes a poster with their question and their answers they found. The participating students set up their posters in the MP room, and other children have the opportunity to ask questions.
  • California Missions: 4th grade.
    Students learn about all of the Califonia missions, and write about four of the missions. The segment culminates with a field trip to a California mission.
  • Coloma (gold country) trip for 2 nights: 4th grade.
    Students learn all about the gold country before the trip, by quizzing each other about gold country history. In Coloma, students live the Gold Rush through stories, songs, skits, to help learn the social and economic community of early Coloma. The Coloma trip is correlated with the California Content Standards.
  • Ice Skating Party:
    schoolwide; held at Winter Lodge.
  • Walk Through the American Revolution:
    5th grade re-enactment of the Revolutionary War.  Very fun! Powdered wigs! Muskets!  Redcoats!
  • El Molino trip for 1 week, February-March timeframe. Spanish Immersion 5th grade.
    Annual trip to El Molino, Mexico.
  • Penny Power. All grades.
    Annual fundraiser for a worthy cause.

  • Escondido Talent Show:
  • Scholastic Bookfair
  • SIPAPA Bookfair
  • International Fair. May.
  • Last Day of School Fair.
